Almost no journey can make do without them: private drivers or drivers of shuttles and coaches. The guests' satisfaction and not least, their security depends on the drivers' working conditions and their job satisfaction. Tour operators also need to take responsibility in this matter. But how can labour and social standards for driving personnel in tourism be implemented and guaranteed? A current publication of the "Roundtable Human Rights in Tourism" provides answers and recommendations.

Yesterday, the first Austrian company in the tourism industry signed the Commitment to become a member of the "Roundtable Human Rights in Tourism": the Austrian travel association (Österreichischer Reise-Verband, ÖRV) thus acknowledges its responsibility for human rights due diligence.

The short video explains the topic of “Human Rights in Tourism”. It targets the tourism industry as well as travellers and illustrates with examples how tourism and human rights relate. The video demonstrates how tour operators can actively respect human rights throughout their activities, and what travellers can contribute to the issue.

New NFI publication: Recommendations on how to take photographs respectfully on a journey.

As of 2015, Naturefriends International (NFI) has a new executive director: the Management Committee appointed Andrea Lichtenecker as the first woman to lead the umbrella organisation of the Naturefriends movement, which counts more than 500,000 members and champions sustainable and socially just tourism and leisure-time activities, protection of our natural heritage and the climate as well as climate justice. Being a member of the "Green 10", NFI is also active at the EU level, influencing political strategies and European policy-making.
