Naturefriends Italy have set up two trails that allow to immerse yourself in the country's history and culture.

On the "Via del Sale" (salt road), in the surroundings of Volterra, you can discover and experience how this mineral was formed here in Tuscany. Salt was precious to people because it was used to preserve food. The "Via del Sale" follows old roads along mining areas (so-called "moje") and commercial centres.

The "Via della Selce" (flint path) in turn follows paths along which flint was exchanged in prehistoric times. In the area between Monte Baldo on the east side of Lake Garda and Valcamonica further west, you can still find many prehistoric relics as well as remains of trenches from the First World War. On this path one breathes the spirit of our ancestors, as Cecil Cross (a respected representative of the Lakota Sioux from South Dakota, USA) showed us during one of his visits.
