Naturefriends Sports for All
Many people find rest and relaxation in sports and leisure-time activities. For people with a physical impairment, however, it is often difficult ‒ if not impossible ‒ to indulge in such activities. Through our project "Naturefriends Sports for All", funded by the Erasmus + programme, we aim to support our local groups in the planning and development of accessible outdoor sports offers.
A need for this most certainly exists: according to a study of the World Health Organisation and the World Bank, published in 2011, more than a billion people have impairments. This amounts to 15 percent of the global population. Almost 50 million live in the EU. When additionally taking into account people with temporary impairments ‒ after an accident or a surgery, for example ‒ or elderly people, it becomes clear that many people depend on accessibility.
