Climate Hikes visits Terra Lenta (IT)
The Terra Lenta festival of our Italian Naturefriends (GIAN) offered us the perfect opportunity to present our ‘Climate Hikes’ to an audience. Terra Lenta, or ‘slow earth’, was created to reflect on sustainable ways out of the climate crisis and to develop ideas on various dimensions of sustainability, such as social inclusion, biodiversity, and environmentally friendly tourism. We took advantage of this fertile ground and interested festival guests were able to develop initial ideas for their own climate hike in our workshop. We clearly benefited from the different backgrounds and areas of interest of the participants in this workshop. Not only did we collect new ideas for potential climate hikes, but the participants also inspired each other with their creative thoughts. The diversity of ideas fit perfectly into the festival's broad sustainability spectrum. We were particularly pleased to be able to make our project accessible across national borders and to get feedback on our developments so far.
The next step will be to develop a guideline for creating your own climate hike. This will include all methods and instructions for implementing a climate hike. It is expected to be published on our website in spring 2025.
