043 | Training of climate scouts
As part of the International Climate Project of Naturefriends Bremen, trainings for climate scouts were carried out at grammar schools in Togo and Germany. The special feature of the project is that climate change is handled from different perspectives (Europe and Africa).
The aim of the activities carried out in Togo, which meanwhile have been copied by similar trainings in other countries, was to show the students of Kpalimé the process from knowledge to action within the framework of concrete activities (e.g. waste disposal and tree planting).
The task of the climate scouts is to raise awareness regarding the consequences of climate change among classmates and their families but also to show alternatives to the wasteful use of energy and natural resources. Climate scouts are ambitious to build partnerships for climate protection with students from other parts of the world and to work on questions about sustainable development from different perspectives. Openness towards other cultures always comes first. Various materials, such as a climate suitcase, a climate CD, brochures and information boards support the work of the climate scouts.
