048| Kids for Nature
Exploring the natural treasures in the neighbourhood and experiencing exciting things about animals, plants and habitats and their endangerment – that was the aim of the "Kids for Nature" project, which was implemented by Naturefriends International, Naturefriends Vorarlberg and a group of committed children. Together with an ecologist, the children explored the alluvial forest along the Bregenzer Ach and created a colourful brochure which informs about the characteristic animal and plant species and is intended to motivate visitors to behave in a nature-friendly way.
Three years later a similar project was carried out with a school class from Loosdorf in Lower Austria. This time, the focus was on the nature reserve along the Pielach river, which is highly appreciated as a recreation area by local people. Here too, the children designed a colourful brochure with lots of tips on how to behave without disturbing the beavers, kingfishers and the other animals of the river landscape.
