At the beginning of the 20th century, before the Finnish Civil War, the workers built houses to create (free) space for themselves. Here they could meet for leisure activities, sports, theatre and music. The houses also served as places for conferences, lectures, dance events and celebrations. These houses are a symbol of the culture of the workers' movement.

In 1999 the local group Pohjantähden Työväen Retkeilijät ry" acquired the house of the workers' organization in Asunta, Keuruuu, which was built in 1909. It was in a bad condition at that time. In order to finance the labour-intensive reconstruction, a loan had to be taken out - through flea markets, auctions, donations and other activities the funds for the repayment were collected. Many hours of work went into the renovation of the house: the windows were replaced, the roof was renewed and a heating system was installed, the ballroom and the cafeteria were renovated, and a sauna was built in the garden.

In 2013 the local group bought another old house in Virala, Janakkala. This house was also renovated with the help of volunteers.

Both houses are in good condition today and can be used for various activities and celebrations.
