Since 2009, John Huige, former Managing Director of the Dutch Naturefriends, has been committed to a broad national platform for social and sustainable economics, and with him also the Dutch Naturefriends. The core idea is that growth does not solve economic problems but causes them. A change of the whole system is needed. 

The cooperation with the platform gave new impetus to the Dutch Naturefriends. A course on fair economy was developed and took place in different places in the country. As a direct result of the initiative, Dutch Naturefriends Houses were shaped more sustainable and environmentally friendly. 

The Platform could not yet realize the necessary transition. However, the initiative has contributed to a broad awareness of the necessity of a change. The principles of the “Fair & Green Deal Manifesto” are still up to date and deserve our full commitment.
